what are spreadsheets?
A spreadsheet is a table of values arranged in rows and columns.Spreadsheets are used mostly for math calculations and for creating graphs and charts. Spreadsheet applications (sometimes referred to simply as spreadsheets) are computer programs that let you create and manipulate spreadsheets electronically. The spreadsheet application we currently use at Otahuhu College is Microsoft word(2010). This spreadsheet application is recognized and used on an international basis and it is also co-operative with the operating system used at Otahhu college which is windows 7. In a spreadsheet application, each value sits in a cell. You can define what type of data is in each cell and how different cells depend on one another. The relationships between cells are called formulas, and the names of the cells are called labels. Within the cells you can type values or e. Changing some values may alter other values as well.
Entering Data:
Once you have defined the cells and the formulas for linking them together you can type values and eneter data. Changing some values may alter other values as well. These other values can be good if a slight alteration were to be made. There are a number of spreadsheet applications on the market including AppleWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets. The more powerful spreadsheet applications support graphics features that enable you to produce charts and graphs from the data. Most spreadsheet applications are multidimensional, meaning that you can link one spreadsheet to another. A three-dimensional spreadsheet, for example, is like a stack of spreadsheets all connected by formulas. A change made in one spreadsheet automatically affects other spreadsheets.

Here is an example of one we had to work with earlier in the year...
